The European East-West Academy for Culture and the Media and the network imaginary friends initiate a European project on transmedia storytelling
More and more people create individual reality spaces from multiple platforms collecting various kinds of information. Storytelling nowadays no longer functions linearly through only one medium (a book, a movie, a song), but expands into several platforms. The story elements can be accessed individually or in a cumulative manner. Stories are told in the material as well as in the digital world. They can begin in a book and then develop their storylines simultaneously on websites, facebook or twitter, and continue in a movie, a cartoon or a photo series and finally materialize as an artistic guerilla action in the streets.
The European East-West Academy for Culture and The Media and the network imaginary friends want to explore the possibilities of transmedia storytelling with artists from different fields, in Eastern and Western Europe. We are currently developing a platform for a trans-european cooperation – and are therefore looking for partners in Eastern and Western Europe.
